OutlineVPN - Create a personal proxy server

First, let's prepare a server with the Outline VPN package installed. This can be done in three different ways. You can choose the most suitable one for you.

Purchase the required tariff with OutlineVPN pre-installed

To do this we will need to buy the necessary server in the desired location. In our case it will be the basic tariff SWEs-1 in Sweden. Go to the **"Pre-installed Software" section.

Specify the desired outline VPN package (OS installation will be done according to the specified OS in the pre-installed software script, in this case Debian 11 + Outline VPN will be installed).

Set the desired rental period by hours or months, activate the backup service (if they are necessary) and click the pay button.

Installing Outline VPN on an already installed Ubuntu OS

Go to the services and select the purchased server on which you want to install Outline VPN.

Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the service and go to the control panel.

Open the right menu of the required server and go to run the software installation script.

Select the Outline VPN installation script and run it.

Reinstall the ready-made server on Ubuntu OS with Outline VPN pre-installed

In case you have an off-the-shelf server, you can also reinstall its operating system with Outline VPN pre-installed. To do this, go to the control panel following the instructions in the previous paragraph and select reinstall server OS.

Select Ubuntu OS and click the Select button in the Applications and Scripts pane: Select the Outline VPN installation script and confirm with the Select Script button.

Click the "Reinstall" button and wait for it to execute.

Connect VPN server in Outline Manager

Connect to the server via WinSCP and login, password from your personal cabinet or a letter from your mail (in case of OS reinstallation).

In the root directory you need to open the file "outline.txt" with the API key for Outline Manager:

We need to copy from the file a line like this:

Now we need to download and install Outline Manager official website

Start Outline Manager and add a new server.

Copy the previously obtained key from the server to the second item in the window and click "Done".

After adding the server, 1 key will be automatically created for the client device.

Click on the share button.

We can copy the key directly to the clipboard or share it for the client with a link. In our case, we copy the key to the clipboard by clicking on the "copy access key" button and click ready.

Connecting the key to the Outline VPN Client

To do this, install the Outline Client application from official website.

After the installation, run the client application and click add server.

Specify the access key obtained in step 2 and confirm with the add server button.

Now we can connect to our Outline VPN server.

Click "Connect", from this moment your IP address will change to the IP address of your server. You will also be able to open sites that are available to citizens of the country where your server is located. Have fun!
